LIGHT AND DARK

My daughter asked me the other day, “Dad, will we still be able to sin after Jesus comes back?”

“Sure, if the Devil sinned in the midst of the glory of God, why do you think we wouldn’t be able to?” was my reply.

“It is scary to think we may turn away from him. I don’t want to think I might do that. If the devil sinned, what would stop me?”

My response began unraveling what few Christians understand about this walk on the earth. You and I, as Christians, are in a much better position than the devil ever will be. Look at it this way. Why do you think that God put the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil in the Garden of Eden? He wanted to give us a choice. Love cannot be commanded. If God did not give us a choice, then we would never really show our love, because we have no options. But the Tree gave us a choice. The Devil is still on this earth, creating chaos, disease, and death. To our logical mind, why would Jesus not just do away with the Devil? Wouldn’t the world be a better place? Of course, but God is using the Devil’s own nature against him. God is using the Devil to tempt, test, and torment us on a seemingly daily basis. If we will walk this life and choose righteousnes, faithfulness, justice, truth, and the kingdom of God, then we’ve made the choice to choose Him. Choosing to follow YHWH God in the face of such terrible darkness when we only have a HOPE of eternity with him, proves to him that we are opposite of the Devil. If we can choose him when we can see no light, then we’ve proven that we will not betray him IN the light. The earth is a testing grounds of those worthy to be close to him. Paul said it best, “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived, — the things God has prepared for those who love him.

Relax, my baby girl, you’re the King’s kid.
