Impartation
Life and churches are full of people living, and not just living, but ONLY living. Jesus said he came to give life and give it abundantly. Are you walking in fullness? Are you walking in Jesus’ abundance for your life? Most people, even church people, are just surviving. If we got into their hearts of hearts, they would be, at best, lonely. But in reality, we’ll find they are fearful, hurting, sick, AND lonely. These are church people!
God wants us to have life…ZOE. A life springing from a source like ‘Old Faithful’ in Yellowstone. A life that is immune to destruction. This is ZOE life. The Greek word is meant not to mean alive, like a fly, but living like Jesus. Jesus is the source of ZOE. No beginning or end, just the all-fulfilling life, and quality life of the Kingdom of God. But why are so many people just surviving?
While we could take this talk in many directions, I want to focus on the impartation of Zoe that Paul spoke of. Galations 5:25 (This is from the Complete Jewish Bible by David Stern) Since it is through the Spirit that we have Life (zoe), let it also be through the Spirit that we order our lives day by day.
Paul said that the way to have a full, eternal walk in this life is through the Spirit of God. He then tells everyone, we should order our lives by that same Holy Spirit.
It is difficult for us to fathom, but to completely dead to ourselves as Jesus wants is to be completely alive to His Spirit. How many decisions do you make every day? How many of them do you seek the Spirit of God to guide you through? How many times to we make decisions in our lives…jobs, money, mates, kids, that we do not seek Him? God wants to be more than a passenger in your drive through this life. He desires to do the driving. But our control issues sometimes block our ability to find ZOE, or the plan Holy Spirit has for that day.
Today, we are called to order our steps daily by the Holy Spirit. Every day, every walk, every decision…God has a plan for it.
Our decision making can give us a good life, but a good life is not ZOE. Let God drive today, the scenery is much better when he is making decisions.
The holy Spirit will impart life, but only when we surrender to Him.
